Position: Hotel Head Chef

Reports to: Executive Head Chef

Responsible for: Senior Sous Chef Kitchen Team

Location: Aldwark Manor Estate Aldwark Nr. Alne York YO61 1UF

Hours of work: 46 hours per week

Aldwark Manor Estate is a privately owned Hotel with Golf nestled in a picturesque village between York and Harrogate. Set in 200 acres of beautiful countryside this luxury Hotel provides a complete escape for both business and leisure guests and is a popular venue for weddings

Over the last few years the Hotel has undergone major renovations in the bedrooms restaurant residents lounge sports bar and all public areas. This year we will completing our new and opulent spa and stateoftheart leisure areas as well as our new conference rooms and additional 24 bedrooms

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivatedHotel Head Chef to join our team at Aldwark Manor Estate. This role is responsible for all Restaurants including our main Hotel Restaurant Fine Dining Sports Bar and Events.


Purpose of the role:

As Hotel Head Chef you will be overall responsible for the Kitchen and its staff in the absence of the Executive Head Chef directing all kitchen activities and ensuring the preparation of our delicious food helping create memorable experiences for guests whenever and wherever they dine.

You will lead and inspire everyone with coaching and mentoring the team to be their best. The main purpose of the role is to manage the quality and food production of all catering lead and inspire the team to deliver the highest standards and ensure legislative requirements are met.

Main duties include:

  • Controlling and directing the food preparation process.
  • Managing and working closely with other Chefs at all levels to develop and lead teams.
  • Maintaining / raising the foods profit margins.
  • Excellent cooking skills with a strong understanding of produce and ingredients.
  • Determining food inventory needs stocking and ordering. Liaising with suppliers for food orders.
  • Creating menu items recipes and developing dishes ensuring variety and quality.
  • Strong communication skills through a variety of means: departmental meetings HOD meetings Function sheet meetings Health and Safety meetings etc.
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to stay calm under pressure adapting your approach to complete routine and nonroutine tasks.
  • Controlling costs and managing food purchasing
