The City of Abbotsford is seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to join our team as an Assistant Manager Bylaw Services. This role is crucial in supervising a specialized team of technical staff in the administration and enforcement of policies bylaws and programs that support public health safety and liability in our community. The Assistant Manager will assign oversee and evaluate the work of Bylaw Enforcement Officers providing coaching and guidance to ensure compliance with City bylaws policies and regulations using a customer servicefocused approach. In the absence of the Senior Manager Bylaw Services the Assistant Manager will act on their behalf.

The key responsibilities of this role include supervising and evaluating direct reports and continuously monitoring and adjusting customer service standards. The Assistant Manager ensures timely and fair handling of files assists with complex issues partners with management on difficult cases and provides regular coaching and feedback. Additionally the role involves planning and assigning workloads delegating service calls and projects conducting preventative control and trend analysis and overseeing the hiring orientation and training of bylaw enforcement officers. General administrative duties include acting for the Senior Manager during absences coordinating daily operations recommending staff training reviewing bylaw amendments and preparing reports and correspondence.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Business Administration or Social Sciences supplemented by courses/certification in bylaw enforcement and conflict management or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Class 5 Drivers Licence.
  • Minimum of three years experience in regulatory administration and/or enforcement.
  • Minimum of two years in a supervisory position or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
