We have an exciting opportunity for an earlystage researcher to join our multidisciplinary Public Health Division within the largest Local Authority in the country and lead work that contributes to tackling health inequalities in the city.
This is a substantive position within the Evidence Team which sits within the Knowledge Evidence and Governance subdivision (KEG). We work with a wide range of stakeholders to improve health and wellbeing including internal directorates academics the Integrated Care System partners justice and the third sectors. The team you will be joining are engaged in a dynamic and diverse range of research around health inequalities including mental health disabilities and deprivation.
About Us
The Evidence Team are responsible for the JSNA Deep Dive Programme which is a rolling programme of indepth needs assessments about health and wellbeing in Birmingham. This means that the Evidence Team are usually researching two or three different health and wellbeing topics at any one time. This brings a lot of variety to the role and includes a range of tasks such as collating local and national strategies analysing data completing epidemiological research across the wider determinants of health service mapping collecting lived experience and developing recommendations for action. These tasks provide ample opportunities to engage with a range of stakeholders to gather valuable insights build relationships and enhance the impact of the teams work. The current research portfolio includes learning disabilities mobility impairment dual diagnosis neurodivergence and worklessness. The Evidence Teams Deep Dive Programme research supports the Health and Wellbeing Boards work in tackling inequalities within Birmingham.
The Role
The role will support the team on projects and partnerships to reduce health inequalities across our diverse city. This is an exciting research opportunity andinvolves researching health inequalities writing indepth needs assessments and creating recommendations for role would suit an earlystage researcher with a passion for improving public health and an interest in expanding their research portfolio with opportunities for training and further development.
