The Workers Compensation Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Department of Human Resources (DHR) by administering all workers compensationrelated claims benefits and personnel actions. Acting as a key point of contact this position provides consultation and guidance to employees and supervisors on the workers compensation process and ensures the effective handling of related documentation compliance and coordination with vendors such as CorVel.
In addition to overseeing workers compensation transactions this position may assist with a variety of other HR operations including new hire processing transfers and promotions. The Specialist acts with a degree of independence and professionalism in providing HR support maintaining personnel records and facilitating communication with insurance providers. This role requires a detailed understanding of state and vendor benefits personnel procedures and HR compliance requirements.
Serve as the primary administrator for all workers compensation claims and associated personnel transactions.
Provide consultation and guidance to employees and supervisors regarding the workers compensation process.
Act as the liaison between employees and the insurance vendor (e.g. CorVel) for claim coordination and benefits management.
Maintain and update documentation related to workers compensation cases in accordance with state policy and HR best practices.
Support processing of HR actions such as new hires transfers and promotions as needed.
Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and HR policies governing workers compensation and employee benefits.
Review verify and maintain personnel documents and transactions within designated HR systems.
Assist in gathering and analyzing HR data for reporting or review purposes.
Provide general HR customer service support responding to inquiries from staff and the public.
Support HR training efforts related to workers compensation policies and processes as appropriate.
