Job Description
Job Title: Press Area Operator
SUMMARY:
Responsible for operating and maintaining presses used for manufacturing various products. Set up and operate press area machines to bend form stretch notch punch or straighten metal composite or plastic stock as specified by work order blueprints drawing templates or layout.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assembles installs and aligns dies in press according to specifications using feelers shims templates bolts clamps and wrenches.
- Adjusts ram stroke to specified length.
- Positions workpiece against fixtures or stops on machine bed or on die.
- Starts press and observes operations to detect misalignment or malfunction.
- Inspects workpieces for conformance to specifications visually or using gauges or templates and adjusts machine to correct errors.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follows current safety policies and procedures and maintains safe work environment.
- May clean and lubricate machines
- Because of the changing nature of our business this job description will inevitably change. The employee will from time to time be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within his/her capabilities as directed by management.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- High School degree or GED preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Requires good hand/eye coordination.
- Must be able to lift 5070 lbs
- Occasionally required to climb ladders stoop kneel and stand for long periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working conditions are a warehouse with a cement floor. Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Must be able to lift at least 5070 pounds. Bending and lifting required.
