Required Education/Experience:Masters degree AND:

  • 24 months in faculty professional development or related experience

Skills:

  • Strong leadership supervisory and management skills: able to supervise a team manage and prioritize time and other resources hire and onboard staff and provide effective feedback to support team members development
  • Experience and success helping others develop effective proposals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to helping faculty develop and implement effective sustainable and ethical practices
  • Experience and success in developing and facilitating professional development resources for faculty audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate positive interactions with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives
  • Communicates effectively accurately and professionally in person in writing and via the telephone / videoconference
  • Able to adjust feedback resources and communications to meet the needs of multiple diverse audiences with differing priorities and perspectives
  • Creates and fosters environments where others feel understood and supported providing space for open communication active listening and perspective taking
  • Supportsteam members and faculty as they navigate difficult situations with patience grace and a focus on positive outcomes
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously coordinate different groups of people and meet deadlines
  • Ability to engage in qualitative and quantitative assessment of CFE activities and outcomes
  • Ability to represent CFE and its mission to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Effective decision making conflict resolution and problemsolving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a strong degree of confidentiality integrity and good judgement
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Experience collaborating across higher education contexts

Departmental Preferences:

  • 24 months of related experience providing faculty professional development across disciplines to achieve strategic university goals.
  • Experience supervising a team of staff members.
  • Experience and success developing or managing large multidisciplinary projects/proposals.
  • Terminal degree plus 5 years experience in professional development or higher education.

The University of Oklahoma is seeking an Associate Director of Research and Creative Activities to work with OU faculty as they develop grant and fellowship proposals to submit to a wide range of funding agencies and organizations including federal state and private entities. The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) provides support and skill development to help faculty enhance teaching extend research and creative activities engage in their communities and foster leadership within an environment that encourages a culture of community support and excellence. CFE is committed to developing useful resources to support faculty as they work toward their scholarship goals and advance OUs mission: to provide the best possible educational experience for our students through excellence in teaching research and creative activity and service to the state and society. Towards this goal this position will assist faculty across all disciplines as they develop grant and fellowship proposals that support their research and creative activities. The Associate Director leads a team designed to support faculty research and creative activities by developing and presenting workshops consulting with faculty working with teams of scholars to develop collaborative projects and providing developmental feedback on proposal materials.
