Job Description

The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) is a nonprofit organization founded in is a California leader with national impact made of diverse immigrant families and individualswho act as agents of social change to achieve a world with freedom of mobility full human rights and true participatory democracy. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Ukrainian Caseworker will provide traumainformed services to Ukrainian refugees and parolees tosupport a positive resettlement experience and the achievement of client selfsufficiency. As the keystaff member for the Ukrainian Newcomer Support Program (UNSP) the Case Worker will work closelywith clients colleagues and external parties to develop service and/or selfsufficiency plans to meetindividual client needs and preferences utilizing a broad range of financial medical social vocationaland other services and resources in accordance with client eligibility and program requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coordinate timely services to ensure each clienthas living essentials such as housing food medical care and access to transportation and isoriented to their new environment.
  • Lead group programming in the form of events workshops on topics related to culturalorientation social adjustment mental health etc.
  • Be able to design and provide informative interactive and educational workshops on a widerange of topics through the lens of Ukrainian newcomers.
  • Conduct intake services with clients to assess needs. Develop selfsufficiency plans andtimelines in partnership with each client. Provide individualized support through direct servicesreferrals and advocacy.
  • Coordinate with senior leadership on reports on an ongoing basis.
  • Timely service provision and documentation are required.
  • Assess and monitor client progress to support their attainment of established goals addresschallenges and ensure that available resources are utilized.
  • Maintain client files according to CHIRLA documentation policy/procedure. Clearly documentintakes exits incidents and observations.
  • Collaborate effectively with coworkers and partner organizations. Build and maintainrelationships with area service providers for the benefit of clients.
  • Attending and actively participating in staff meetings supervision and training as directed.
  • Use personally insured and/or company insured vehicle(s) to travel and transport clients andmaterials as needed throughout the service delivery area.
  • May train and lead the activities of volunteers and interns.
  • Set expectations during the initial intake of the program.
  • Carry out quality assurance activities as requested.
  • Be a bridge for clients in need of services.
  • Have due diligence with CHIRLA policies/procedures to maintain clients file compliant toprograms guidelines.
  • Develop partnerships with local institutions to increase support and services for refugees.
  • Support local resettlement efforts of agencies tasked with initial resettlement by helping toadvocate for the needs of newly arrived refugees.
  • Identify challenges around access for housing and other basic needs work with stakeholders to address barriers and build alliances with housing partners.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • Bachelors degree (BA) or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • At least two years or relevant professional experience required in the human services field.
  • Established connection with the Ukrainian community in Los Angeles and/or Orangecounties.
  • Experience working with refugee and immigrant populations.
  • Experience working with diverse immigrant communities community advocacy andorganizing.
  • Confident public speaker and group facilitation skills.
  • Timely and accurate financial reporting on a continuous basis.
  • Deep understanding of traumainformed care practices.
  • Must have strong relationship building diplomacy and networking skills; ability to effectivelybuild internal and external relationships.
  • Must have strong technical skills to navigate interpretation applications.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office One Drive and scheduling software.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work early morning evening and weekend hours
  • Professionalism maturity and ability to work as a team and independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills good attention to detail and well organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills verbal and written.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or amount of force constantly tomove objects.
  • Must have skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Must be able to travel between multiple CHIRLA sites including Los Angeles and OrangeCounty branch offices.
  • Ukrainian and/or Russian written and oral fluency is required as the job requires extensiverepresentation in the Ukrainian language.
  • Flexibility is required based on the needs of the organization. The position may involve some evening and weekend work.

  • Support CHIRLAs fundraising goals including Annual Gala Membership Drive etc.


JOB TITLE: Ukrainian Caseworker

Salary & Benefits: $68640. CHIRLA offers a competitive salary based on qualifications and anexcellent benefit package which includes generous time off benefits 401K Plan health dental andvision plans.

FLSA Classification: Exempt/Salary Fulltime regular

Classification: CHIRLA recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with AFSCME Local 4501. Thisposition is included in CHIRLAs bargaining unit and covered under the terms of thecollective bargaining agreement.

REPORTS TO: Resettlement Manager

CLOSING DATE OF THIS POSITION: Position will remain open until filled

LOCATION: Santa Ana with travel to Los Angeles Headquarters 12x/week
