You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailPreble Streets Veteran Housing Services (VHS) team provides services and support to veterans throughout Maine toward overcoming barriers to finding and maintaining housing. With funding from the U.S. Dept. of Veteran Affairs Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Preble Streets VHS program offers case management; employment benefit and resource referrals; intensive housing counseling; and direct financial assistance for housing to veterans who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
A full-Time VHS Outreach Caseworker position is currently available with 40 hour/week schedule. The VHS Outreach Caseworker is a member of the VHS casework team working across Maine to offer support to Veterans and their families in finding and maintaining housing.
Guided by Preble Streets mission and informed by Housing First harm-reduction and trauma-informed service approaches Outreach Caseworker provides outreach and transitional case management to veterans experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness facilitating access and connections to available resources for housing medical care mental health and substance use disorder services and benefits. The Outreach Caseworker will also cultivate and maintain collaborative positive relationships with service providers law enforcement shelter staff and other community partners to maximize available resources for veterans.
Qualifications for the position include a bachelors degree in social work or a related field and experience working with veterans people experiencing homelessness or similar populations or a comparable combination of work experience education and/or training.
Additional qualifications include an understanding of and alignment with Preble Streets mission and positive regard for people experiencing homelessness and poverty; knowledge of issues related to homelessness; commitment to providing low-barrier high-quality services to people experiencing homelessness; and strong communication and organizational skills; and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and community partners. Veteran status is not required for this position.
Regional travel is required with mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use for work-related travel.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The hourly rate of pay for this full-time (40 hours/week) position is $22.45 per hour.
