Job Description

URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY (UCF) YOUTH CREW MEMBER SUMMER 2025

Idaho Conservation Corps part of Northwest Youth Corps is seeking young people ages 1518 interested in working outdoors while making a positive impact on our urban forests.

Urban and Community Forestry (UCF) crew members complete urban forest health projects for five weeks throughout the Treasure Valley area. Experienced field staff provide training and education on urban forestry projects such as tree planting and maintenance wildfire protection and invasive plant management. You join a closeknit team of 8 crew members and two crew leaders committed to playing a vital role in improving our urban forests and the environment.

This is tough work. We work in all weather and our projects are handson. All training is provided and you do not need prior experience to apply.

Dates: Session 1: June 2nd to July 3rd 2025; Session 2: July 8th to August 8th 2025.

Location: Boise/Garden City or Nampa/Caldwell Idaho. Crew members are responsible for arriving at the office on time each day (we can provide info on bus and bike routes as needed). Project locations generally include city parks public lands and private properties in disadvantaged neighborhoods.

Benefits/Tuition:

  • $480 weekly stipend (plus potential $40/week bonuses) received at the end of the session
  • $200 tuition fee to defray operating expenses; financial aid is available.
  • Up to 2 high school credits with school approval
  • Safety gear and uniforms provided
  • All training provided

Qualifications:

  • Age 1518 at the start date
  • US citizenship or permanent residency (green card)
  • Positive mental attitude willingness to learn and a team player
  • Desire to conserve natural spaces and make an impact on the environment
  • While no experience with these is required you should be physically and mentally prepared to:
    • Do physical work and be on foot for 8 hours per day
    • Follow safety protocols
