Reports to: Director of the Elementary Center

FLSA Status: Exempt

When Needed:School Year

FTE: Full Time Academic Year

Onsite

Pay rate: ranges between $64000 to $138000 / depends on education and experience

Job Overview:

We are seeking a creative and collaborative Fourth Grade Math and Science teacher. Under minimal supervision you will inspire and support students in a dynamic school environment and create a supportive classroom community.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements curriculum and unit plans
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of teaching practices and a commitment to teaching within a caring highly academic environment
  • Works with families and communicates in a clear and supportive manner
  • Stays abreast of current educational research and best practices
  • Promotes field of Math and Science education within school community by creating school events participating in interdisciplinary projects developing field trips and building connections with local communities
  • Serves as an advisor specifically for a homeroom class and other students as needed
  • Partners with the Fourth Grade team to foster academic social/emotional and cognitive growth for all students

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • A Bachelors Degree with an emphasis in elementary education or related subject areas from a fouryear college or university required
  • Masters Degree in elementary education or related areas preferred
  • 3 years of combined teaching experience required
  • Experience in teaching Math and Science at the upper elementary level
  • Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of current trends and research in learning and assessment
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of all learners and the program
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team situation
  • Ability to work efficiently in a Microsoft Windows environment using Microsoft Office master common automated systems for record keeping and learn new technology
  • Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
  • Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents
  • Some travel required (field trips)

Required knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Develops positive collegial relations with coworkers with a regard for the dignity and social/emotional wellbeing of others and supports community decisionmaking processes
  • Vigorously engages in his/her own professional development
  • Establishes and cultivates community relations by maintaining open and candid dialogue with all of the schools constituencies
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Establishes positive relationships with parents and students.
  • Sets clear expectations for classroom and extracurricular operational processes and procedures (i.e. grading/reporting procedures attendance policies homework and class work expectations student behavior etc.
  • Observes laws and the schools policies procedures and regulations which have application to and implication for the professionals responsibilities
  • Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the schools documents
  • Since safety and security are everyones responsibility takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students faculty staff equipment materials and facilities
  • Participates in Elementary division planning and middle school department meetings
  • Participates in Committees as required/desired
  • Helps with recess and lunch duties as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
