What Youll Do:
Join our team of topnotch experts who dedicate their lives to a cleaner safer better Ohio. The Division of Livestock Environmental Permitting (DLEP) is looking to fill a Natural Resources Engineer 1 based out of the Reynoldsburg office.
This position is responsible for:
- Under the supervision of a registered professional engineer conducts technical reviews of permit to install permit to operate and permit to operate renewal applications for concentrated animal feeding facilities (CAFFs) to ensure compliance with technical requirements for issuance (e.g. geological exploration reports; soils/material suitability evaluation; construction and engineering plans specifications and drawings for any type of manure storage structure; manure and nutrient management; land application area site evaluation; mortality management; insect and rodent control; emergency response; operational procedures and record keeping practices; review of best management practices implemented to protect surface waters of the state)
- Assists in performing technical review of livestock & manure facility design hydrogeological & soils evaluations involving manure storage or treatment facilities
- Develops & reviews plans for the utilization treatment & distribution of manure for reuse as a crop nutrient or other processed product
- Assists in conducting inspections of concentrated animal feeding facilities during construction for quality control purposes
- Maintains job related tools & equipment prepares weekly schedules/itinerary & maintains project files & contact information
- Acts as liaison between office & divisions field staff on project planning inspections/investigations and compliance issues
- Provides technical assistance to field staff or regulated community as needed
- Conducts pollution or complaint investigations as requested
- Reviews and updates any rules or statutes as requested
- Develops environmental enforcement cases and participate in environmental enforcement hearings
- Maintains database information on permits inspections reports compliance & enforcement
This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. ODA bargaining unit members have selection rights before nonbargaining unit members. Maternity Benefits
Expanded maternity health care benefits available to state employees enrolled in the Ohio Med PPO and Ohio Med NN (narrow network) medical plan options. Several prenatal childbirth and postchildbirth services are provided at no outofpocket cost to employees utilizing network providers.
Examples of services now covered by network providers at 100 include:
o Prenatal care including physician visits and examinations.
o Home health care services designated as maternity care (for expectant members on bed rest).
o Inpatient claims for all types of delivery.
o Inpatient NICU claims from birth through discharge.
o Postpartum care including office visits for followup and procedures/treatments directly related to maternity.
Medications prescribed for both antepartum and postpartum conditions (e.g. morning sickness postpartum depression). Medical services provided by nonnetwork providers will be processed at the applicable coinsurance deductible and outofpocket limits.
Prescription that are directly related to maternity care are covered with no copay. The State of Ohio has collaborated with the prescription drug thirdparty administrator (OptumRx) to provide a list of covered medications that can be approved for zero copay via prior authorization from providers.
Competitive Salary:$66726 $97885 Annually

The Division of Livestock Environmental Permitting (DLEP) is charged with regulating the construction and operation of Ohios largest livestock and poultry facilities using sciencebased guidelines that protect the environment while allowing the facility to be productive. DLEP rules regulate how Ohios largest livestock and poultry farms manage manure waste water and nutrients as well as control flies rodents and other pests.

Engineering degree from recognized school or college which has been accredited by accreditation board for engineering & technology or that has been evaluated by National Council of Examiners for Engineering & Surveying (NCEES) Credentials Evaluations as meeting the NCEES Engineering Education Standard.
