Home Quest Teacher Facilitator

The Home Quest Teacher Facilitators teach within a broad grade band (including multiple grades). Home Quest Teacher Facilitators teach within the guidelines of a Provincial Online Learning School (POLS) under the supervision of the Home Quest Program Coordinator and the District Principal of Learning Services.

The Home Quest Teacher Facilitator supports is responsible for:

  • Home Quest compliance with Ministry POLS expectations including the Online Learning Policy; Ministerial Agreement; Accountability & Quality Assurance; Online Learning Policies
  • Helping Home Facilitators set learning goals for students. As well Teacher Facilitators will provide regular feedback and assessment in each students learning plan and online through Brightspace.
  • Ensuring that Home Facilitators are accountable to the Home Quest agreement and support Home Facilitators in managing home learning effectively.
  • Using MyEd to create 3 formal reports following both provincial and district guidelines
  • Using the provincial platform Brightspace (Home Quests Online School Learning Management System) to upload assess and communicating with students & families.
  • Teaching in a blended model consisting of inperson and online components.
  • Supporting Home Facilitators in the daily operations of the program and being present to support families as needed as well as overall support in curriculum planning and assessment for students and families.
  • Cocreating individualized learning plans for students in their grade band based on the B.C Curriculum.
  • Supporting families in sourcing appropriate curriculum meeting the needs of diverse learners and allowing space for learning to take time and patience
  • Teachers at Home Quest will receive a 0.2 Facilitator stipend in recognition of their unique responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A strong background in the subject area(s) being taught including curriculum knowledge and understanding of the BC Education curriculum for multiple grades.
  • Experience teaching students in a variety of settings with a focus on differentiated instruction and meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • Proficiency using digital tools and platforms for online teaching such as Brightspace Teams WCLN and Study Forge is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students colleagues and parents in both written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to manage a classroom environment both inperson and online to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Knowledge of various assessment strategies and ability to provide constructive feedback to students in both written and verbal forms.
  • Understanding of the importance of cultural competence and ability to adapt teaching practices to meet the needs of diverse student populations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances prioritize tasks effectively and manage competing demands in a fastpaced environment.
  • Explores develops and implements teaching practices that weave Indigenous perspectives that support the growth of all students
