Job Description
Primarily responsible for assistance in daily operations and maintenance of manufacturing processes for manufacturing of night vision systems. Including but not limited to: optimization of manufacturing processes implementation of cost reduction opportunities (yield and productivity improvements waste elimination) review/disposition of night vision systems and components and training production employees to improve work processes and product quality work to minimized or eliminate safety quality delivery inventory and production issues.
A successful candidate will have proficiency in the use of hand and machine tools precision gauges test instruments and process equipment. Have an understanding and skills in effectively applying SixSigma tools to benefit the organization and customers. Additionally the candidate will be versed in Lean tools and their application to reduce waste. This is a handson engineering technician position. The individual can expect to spend >70 of their time engaging directly with the factory teams on the shop floor to be most effective. Candidate will perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
- Associates degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical Electrical Mechatronics etc. or equivalent related work experience
- 2 years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical abilities and troubleshooting techniques
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of performing process engineering tasks proportionate to their experience.
- PC proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook is required
- Must have the ability to work effectively within a team
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required
- Experience training others
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance
- Must be able to comply with OSHA EPA Fire Regulations Company Policies and Procedures
- Able to work 3rd shift.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with review/inspection of mechanical assemblies optics and/or soldering
- Experience writing MS Access queries
- Proficiency with statistical analysis software: Minitab JMP SAS . . .
- Six Sigma certification
- Ability to support the organizational culture and build morale
- Experience in the following areas are a plus Night Vision Goggles Thermal Imagery Equipment Optics Conformance Testing to MilStds
- Experience with various forms of deposition processes (ebeam evaporation sputtering and wet etching processes)
- Experience with glass fiber draw or other glass forming operations
- Experience with grinding and polishing operations
- Experience with brazing operations
- Experience with ultrahigh vacuum equipment
