Job Description

Wilkes University invites applicants for a tenuretrack Assistant Professor position in Anthropology to begin August 2025. While we are looking for an Anthropology generalist who can support our Sociology and Criminology programs preference will be given to individuals with a focus in the area of forensic anthropology or in fields of cultural anthropology that relate to criminology crime or law enforcement. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in their specialty area as well as courses that support our General Education curriculum (Introduction to Anthropology). The typical teaching load is 21 credits over two semesters 34 load).

Anthropology is an academic concentration housed within the Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences which consists of Psychology Sociology/Criminology Political Science International Relations and Economics. We seek a candidate who demonstrates a commitment to undergraduate learning and can provide evidence of teaching effectiveness and scholarly productivity. The new faculty member will be expected to develop an active research agenda advise undergraduate students and perform university and professional service. Wilkes University and our Division both highly value mentoring and preference will be given to candidates who embrace this core value. A Ph.D. in Anthropology at the time of appointment is required. ABDs will be considered if degree completion will occur by August 2025.
