Descanso Gardens known for its stunning botanical collections and seasonal displays welcomes over 750000 visitors annually. With the addition of Farmhouse guests will enjoy fresh seasonal farmtotable cuisine inspired by Californias finest ingredients crafted by Chef Mead who is celebrated for his commitment to sustainability and partnerships with local farmers.

We are currently seeking Servers at the Farmhouse Restaurant for Descanso Gardens.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Receive daily section assignment from manager; Set up and stock station as required.
- Smile greet and focus on customers when approaching their table; Introduce oneself and inform
guests of any specials or menu changes; - Offer and serve cocktails or beverages; Apply active listening skills as they state their order.
- Be fully knowledgeable of menu offerings and be prepared to accurately answer questions such
as where food products come from how food is prepared tastes and textures etc. - Make specific beverage appetizer entre and dessert recommendations based on personal
preferences and experiences with other guests. - Answer questions regarding wine list where wines come from the vintage suggested food
pairings aromas and flavors etc. - Follow all state and local guidelines for responsible alcoholic beverage service; Check
identification of guests to verify age requirements for consumption of alcohol. - Incorporate suggestive selling or upselling techniques as appropriate; Verbally confirm order
back to customer to ensure accuracy. - Process orders in the proper sequence by accurately entering into POS.
Other requirements:
- Hours may be extended or irregular to include nights weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to work in extremes of cold to heat.
- Must be able to exert wellpaced mobility to maneuver quickly among different areas of the facility.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- TIPS or TEAM trained or equivalent.
- Age 21 or older.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
- Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned
tasks. - Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations to include addition subtraction multiplication
and division. - Ability to utilize a calculator change counters and manually count and accurately make change for transactions involving large sums of money.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
- Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Ability to count and accurately make change involving large sums of money.
- Ability to use calculator bill counters and coin counters.
