Join the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services as a Laboratory Technician 1 atWestern State Hospital. In this role youll work directly with patients to collect blood samples for testingproviding both technical skill and compassionate care.

Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.
Opportunities performed onsite at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5 premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
Some of what you will do- Perform venipuncture and other phlebotomy procedures to collect blood specimens from patients.
- Identify patients correctly and label samples to ensure accurate test results.
- Interact with patients in a respectful professional and compassionate manner.
- Prepare blood and other specimens for transport or processing.
- Respond to patient questions and concerns in a calm clear and helpful way.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures rules and regulations.
- Follow strict safety infection control and confidentiality procedures at all times.
Who should apply
Those with a current Medical Assistant Phlebotomy certificate and at least 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
And one of the following:
Completion of a course approved by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists for laboratory assistants.
Or
Two years of chemical clinical or public health laboratory experience.
Or
Two or more years of training in medical technology or education in college with courses in laboratory sciences.InterestedApply today!
