- 22month apprenticeship program which includes an initial intensive classroom training period

Salary Information:
- $4339.00monthly beginning salary 87 of 49G for nonbilingual positions)
- $4488.00after six months 90 of 49G)
- $4638.00after ten months 93 of 49G)
- $4987.00 after 22months 100 of 49G Journey Level)
- 5 Annual Periodic Increase after completion of apprenticeship program up to $5783.00
Additional Salary Information:
- Spanish Bilingual jobs include a 5 salary increase for dual language responsibilities.
- Permanent state employees who come into the program at or above 49G will be offered 100 49G $4987.
- Permanent state employees who come into the program between 87 and 99 of 49G will retain their current salary until they naturally progress in accordance with standards of apprenticeship.
- All others will be placed at 87 of 49G until they naturally progress in accordance with standards of apprenticeship.
** If accepted into this apprenticeship program you may qualify for an apprenticeship stipend through your GI bill
If hired as bilingual our top applicant will be required to pass an assessment of your ability to write and speak Spanish fluently. We do not use translating software. Employees with bilingual responsibilities receive a 5 increase in pay. Duties
Some of what youll do:
This job is complex. Claim Managers adjudicate and manage workers compensation claims by authorizing or denying medical vocational and monetary benefits and ensuring statutory time limits are met. As an apprentice you will do this while having your work checked for quality and accuracy.
The right person for this job will enjoy a challenging everchanging environment and possess the ability to work with people needing help.Qualifications
Successful Claim Managers:
- Have strong and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate the ability to learn quickly be organized and work well under pressure
- Calmly handle adversarial situations while maintaining a good sense of judgment and making sound decisions
- Are comfortable answering a high volume of phone calls in a customerfocused environment
- Easily move through multiple computer programs and type 40 words per minute (WPM) accounting for errors
- Are motivated to research and interpret facts apply rules policies and laws fairly and objectively
- Have experience responding to difficult and sensitive situations with a strong sense of empathy and compassion
- Can perform multiple tasks under tight deadlines without sacrificing quality or accuracy
- Are committed to being ontime and here 40 hours per week
Required:
- One year of experience working with insurance claims within Labor and Industries or in claims/insurance adjusting claims investigations paramedical occupations disability management claims risk management/loss control medical billing or paralegal services with experience in personal injury or medical insurance or related fields.

- Bachelors degree
OR
- Equivalent education/experience.

Work Schedule Options:
Work shifts available for the first 11 months:
Onsite Monday Friday 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Other work schedules including hybrid telework can be considered after the 11month classroom training is complete.
Overtime may also be available after the classroom training is complete.
Vacation leave during the first 13 months is limited to specific dates based on the training schedule.State employees who meet the qualifications will become eligible for a generous retirement package at the end of the employees career. Click on the Benefits tab to learn more.

For this position telework is dependent upon business needs and supervisor approval. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater Washington. For positions where inoffice work is necessary the frequency of telework will be discussed with the supervisor of the position at the time of offer.
