Job Description

Northern Star (Pogo) LLC have a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Warehouse Superintendent in support of our worldclass Pogo operation in Alaska.

Whats the role

  • The Warehouse Superintendent reports to the Finance Controller. The primary role is to manage and oversee all warehouse and logistical operations including direct supervision of the warehouse supervisor leads technicians and inventory control. The Warehouse Superintendent supervises all aspects of inbound and outbound freight operations and is responsible for management of the Pogo Mine stock inventory.

Specific Departmental Requirements

  • Manage and oversee all warehouse activities ensuring efficient processes and maximize warehouse productivity.
  • Responsibilities include supervising employees coordinating logistical processes ensuring the quality of goods and preparing relevant documentation.
  • Managing evaluating and reporting on warehouse productivity.
  • Tracking and coordinating the receipt storage and timely delivery of goods and materials.
  • Ordering supplies and maintaining and reconciling inventory levels.
  • Maintaining records reporting relevant information and preparing any necessary documentation.
  • Communicating and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Custodian of the inventory including verifying inventory request and proper use of materials.
  • Provide leadership within the warehouse department including establishing broad and specific goals for the warehouse team to accomplish; instructing the warehouse leads and technicians how to coordinate daily routine tasks; training warehouse employees; and daily workplace inspections.
  • Complete daily receipt of bulk deliveries.
  • Complete month end closing for bulk issues.
  • Compile monthly materials management department report.
  • Confirm inventory transactions in the general ledger match inventory valuation on month end processes.
  • Maintain accurate files and records and maintain improve and develop inventory management systems.
  • Maintain warehouse equipment.
  • Provide various departments requested data on warehouse stock issues and order information.
  • Work with the purchasing department to resolve problems with vendors and contractors.
  • Work with financial staff to resolve invoicing credits and receiving warehouse operations fiscal issues.
  • Notify loss control freight carriers and vendor supervisors when safety incidents occur within the Warehouse areas of responsibility on the Pogo mine site
  • Responsible for safety programs and overall safety in warehouse work areas.
  • Prepare upgrade criteria for each nonexempt job classification as well as any needed revisions for managers approval.
  • Provide and monitor training opportunities in an objective process; ensure that training opportunities are made available fairly consistently and in a manner free from discriminatory bias.
  • Review employees requests/applications for training based on objective evidence related to job performance abilities and interest.
  • Document employees readiness to train for tasks noting any operational reasons related to the availability and scheduling of requested training.
  • Maintain training records of employees in the department. Monitor training register and logging formal training as it occurs
  • Participate in the review of any appeals filed by employees concerning training opportunities.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Qualifications in Supply Chain or Logistics related fields is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Warehouse training in business supply chain management and logistics.
  • At least five 5 years experience in warehousing inventory control or other relevant experience.
  • At least five 5 years warehouse supervisory experience.
  • Current US Drivers License.
  • Pass a background check and post offer physical.

Desired Experience & Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Hazardous materials DOT and Load Planning/Securing training preferred.
  • Applicable vehicle and forklift certifications including Commercial Drivers Licence
  • Mining and industrial warehousing experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all geological and environmental tasks.
  • Computer literacy Microsoft Office Pronto
  • Proficient with data entry and inventory software and systems.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations.

WORK SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT

Working a 15 days on 13 days off up to 12 hours a day or more at a remote campsite. Extreme conditions including but not limited to extreme and changing weather conditions dust mud varying levels of noise varying degrees of light and dark in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

Employees are required to stay on site at the company provided camp during the work rotation. Camp facilities provide dining service games room exercise & weight room sauna and accommodation rooms. Dormitory rooms have a land line phone internet & cable tv programs. Cell service is available when using WiFi. The Company provides a bus service to and from Fairbanks Delta Junction and Tok Alaska.
