*** Applicants seeking shortterm or parttime work with the University of Hawaii may apply for Casual Hire positions which include administrative professional and technical (APT) or instructionaltype positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for fulltime employees and up to 1 calendar year for parttime employees.

Temporary/Permanent: Temporary

Other Conditions: Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected begin May 2025 or soon thereafter. Not to exceed 89 days.


Duties:

  1. Develops and coordinates the University of Hawaii at Hilo Bonner Leader Program in compliance with National Bonner Program guidelines
  2. Develops and implements plans to identify recruit and select students.
  3. Tracks students participation and manages records utilizing webbased reporting systems.
  4. Addresses concerns and issues related to student performance and participation.
  5. Functions as the primary liaison with community partners.
  6. Monitors partnership progress with respect to community impact and student development.
  7. Oversees affiliation and communicates with the Bonner Foundation.
  8. Plans and implements key events such as Orientation the firstyear service trip the Celebration of Learning and the Summer Leadership Institute.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors degree from an accredited fouryear college or university in any field and or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and experience working with students in organizations teams associations or other structured groups.
  3. Familiarity with postsecondary collegiate mission and goals related to studentfocused programs i.e. leadership development and civic engagement.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse students faculty staff and community.
  5. Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and carry out multiple tasks and manage work priorities.
  6. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in a variety of situations.


Desirable Qualifications

  1. Experience with the Bonner Leader Program
  2. Two 2 years of professional experience that supports student development and success
  3. Considerable knowledge and experience leading students in organizations teams associations or other structured groups
  4. Certification of Participation in professional development programs on leadership principles and/or in leadership development programming
  5. Demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships with community organizations faculty staff and students.
