Domestic Violence Survivor Housing Advocate

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a Bilingual housing case management position that focuses on providing antioppressive strength based and culturally specific case management for Latine survivors of domestic/sexual violence. This position works in our housing program funded by Multnomah County. Along with rental assistance the rapid rehousing program provides ongoing case management and advocacy helping participants navigate the complex social service systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Provide mobile community response and support to Domestic Violence (DV) shelters.
• Assess domestic and/or sexual violence clients needs/strengths develop personalized safety plans case plan and determine appropriate plan to remove housing barriers.
• Maintain a caseload of 25 individuals/families.
• Advocate for Latine survivors with outside agencies and government system (i.e. Courts Social Security Immigration DMV DHS and others as needed).
• Participate in community meetings with other social service organizations to promote the agency as an identifiable resource for Latine survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence and maintain timely and cooperative contact with outside agencies.
• Complete and track SSAs and participate in RCT.
• Participate actively in various team projects including team meetings coordination and implementation of pertinent activities.
• Support the organization and maintenance of updated resource materials for survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence.
• Provide crisis intervention services as needed by clients including coverage of assigned shifts on UNICAs 24 hrs. Spanishlanguage crisis line.
• Facilitate or coordinate volunteers to facilitate domestic/sexual violence educational programs and workshops for the community in DV shelters and nontraditional DV settings.
• Maintain documentation and client assistance budget consistent with El Programa Hispano Catlicos Social Service Procedures and funding requirements.
• Adherence to El Programa Hispano Catlico policies and procedures.
• Participate in trainings and coordination meetings as requested by Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by EPHC supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Unless an item or section is labeled required we consider any combination of relevant work experience volunteering education and transferable skills qualifying. Please be clear and specific about how your background is relevant.

• Must be bilingual (Spanish/English) and biculturally competent.
• Ability to communicate concisely and effectively both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.
• Bachelors degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 40hour DV/SA Advocacy training to be completed within 1st month of hire.
• Experience providing case management and intervention services.
• Knowledge of local Latine community issues as they relate to domestic/sexual violence.
• Experience working with a broad range of issues affecting Latines in the community especially issues related to surviving domestic/sexual violence.
• Experience with community networking and organizing.
• Strong proficiency in all programs of Microsoft Office report writing and statistics.
• Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
• Must be able to organize and prioritize work be proactive take initiative follow through and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner.
• High attention to detail required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Willingness to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities.
• Strong analytical and strategic problemsolving skills.
• Ability to work well in team setting as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics in a fast paced work environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which could include some evenings or weekends.
• Ability to support organizational and program specific mission and goals.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds.
• Must have drivers license ability to obtain automobile insurance at levels required by agency 100/300/100. Frequent driving in the TriCounty area required.
• Satisfactory results from civil criminal and motor vehicle background check required.

COMPENSATION: $24.00$25.00 per hour. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.

LOCATION & TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Most of the work performed in this position will be done out in the community meeting with survivors where they feel safe or accompanying survivors to needed services. There are times that work can be done remotely from home; however most work is done in the office. Onsite work is located at EPHCs offices in Gresham OR. Job duties may require occasional travel and evening and weekend work depending on project deadlines.
