The Director Data Protection role is responsible for supporting Gartners data protection program globally including but not limited to collaborating with internal colleagues to implement robust data protection policies ensuring Gartners compliance with data protection laws and regulations and supporting the management of data breaches.This role reports to the Vice President Data Protection Counsel.
Responsibilities:
Help develop maintain and share as appropriate knowledge and expertise of global legal and regulatory data protection requirements (including GDPR CCPA and other relevant legislation) industry trends and best practices with Legal and Compliance peers and internal business leaders.
Help oversee the development and delivery of training on relevant topics covering data protection.
Conduct audits to ensure compliance and to address potential issues
Help manage global data retention program and improve data governance to ensure compliance with global data protection obligations.
Assess and manage the data protection implications of evolving technologies e.g. Generative AI tracking technologies) used within the company.
Manage and optimize privacy management tools to streamline data protection processes and ensure compliance.
Position Requirements:
At least 7 years experience and subject matter expertise in corporate compliance privacy and data protection.
Strong analytical skills: ability to marry subject matter expertise with data to make highquality decisions and prioritize.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn adapt evolve and grow.
Understanding and appreciation of cultural nuances and ability to operate effectively in global environments.
Unquestionable ethics and excellent judgment.
Must hold valid passport with no travel restrictions.
Relevant certifications such as CIPP CIPM or CIPT are a plus.
Bachelors degree in Information Technology Law Business Administration or a related field is preferred but not .

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 116000 USD 164000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range or be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to education training experience professional achievement business need and location. In addition to base salary employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance or a rolebased uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
