The School of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) consists of thirteen disciplines : Asian Studies Japanese Indonesian Community Development History English and Creative Writing Theatre and Drama Philosophy Politics and International Studies Sociology Sustainable Development and Tourism and Events. The combination of these individually strong areas foster crossdisciplinary academic expertise and innovative multidisciplinary approaches to research and teaching.
Your New Role!
The Senior Lecturer in Asian Cultures and Languages will work collaboratively with the Lecturer or Senior Lecturer of Japanese Studies and with external bodies such as partner institutions internationally.
You will contribute meaningfully to the School College University Discipline and academic profession through teaching research and service through the following avenues:
Teaching
Research
Service Engagement and Leadership.

This Continuous Full Time 37.5 hours per week) position attracts a remuneration of $132000 $153000 (pro rata) plus 17 employer superannuation contributions.

Selection Criteria:
A PhD demonstrating a strong background in the theories and methodologies of Anthropology and Sociology disciplines Asian language fluency and substantive field research experience in the East of Southeast Asian region.
Demonstrated successful experience in teaching and coordinating Asian society and culture subjects at university particularly at intermediate to advanced levels.
Ability to deliver highquality learning experiences including contemporary approaches to university curriculum and pedagogy.
Skills and commitment to develop incountry field studies programs in the Asian region.
Demonstrated ability to engage in high quality independent research.
High levels of written and oral communication skills in English and at least one major language of the East or Southeast Asian region.
Track record of scholarly publications in highly regarded journals and/or from academic presses.
Demonstrated capacity to relate and articulate own research outcomes to teaching and engagement with industry community government and media.
Established record of success in competitive grant applications project management and completion.
