The Kodiak Trial Court of the Alaska Court System (ACS) is accepting applications for a Court Case Manager 2 (salary range 12. The selected applicant will perform duties in criminal case processing minor offense case processing and maintain petit and grand jury panels phones and front counter.


Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for an advance step placement.


Major duties will include the following:

  • As a criminal case manager you are responsible for the maintenance of all criminal files including to check the daily jail roster to ensure all complaints are received by the assigned court date; prepare case files and court documents and enter all information into the computer;
  • Perform computer scheduling daily and enter necessary changes; prepare documents for the judge or magistrate judges signature relating to the case file;
  • Route all motions to the law clerk route all urgent filings to the appropriate judicial officer and oversee proper distribution to pertinent parties;
  • Pull files for the next days calendar verify entries and check for any discrepancies; make necessary revisions to the calendar and print revised calendars for distribution;
  • Maintain out of town files that have been transferred or where defendants have been arrested on bench warrants; obtain information from the originating court;
  • Close all files after disposition including preparation of judgments distribution to parties and computer entries; review the file for outstanding bail or restitution monies and prepare requests for disbursement for the bookkeeper;
  • Maintain a tickler system for fines court sanctions and restitution; prepare failure to comply notices fine due letters or orders to show cause if no payments have been received; receipt in monies received in the mail from defendants for fines surcharges restitution and sanctions;
  • Maintain a separate tickler system for courtordered community work service which includes preparing a failure to comply notice if not completed contacting various agencies to verify CWS completion and maintaining the courtapproved CWS list;
  • Serve as grand jury incourt clerk on a weekly basis and as backup incourt for judge or magistrate judge in primary incourts absence or unavailability;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Work Hours

Fulltime court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a onehour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).

OR

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a twoyear paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).

OR

A bachelors degree from an accredited college AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).
