OPPORTUNITY
- Learn customer service skills and gain exposure to a variety of office administrative tasks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist an individual admissions counselor in their work. This includes but is not limited to:
- Relaying information about all aspects of the college (with special attention to Admissions and Financial Aid) and any individualized pertinent information to prospective students
- Communication through a variety of mediums: text (GoogleVoice) phone calls email handwritten notes and inperson
- Organizing travel details and conducting regional research; including gathering information from churches and schools and occasionally Representing Covenant College at a school fair or visiting a church with an AC
- Organizing prospective students recruiting information and reporting pertinent information to your AC regarding recruit communication
- Be familiar with and appropriately record all communications in Slate
- Supervise one 3.5 hour evening or Saturday shift each week will report to the AC(s) on duty during the same shift
- Follow all guidelines as specified in the Assistant Admissions Counselor manual
- Preferred 10 hours of work per week
- If aptitude is shown there are opportunities for an increased variety of tasks including occasional tours hosting overnight and occasional visit desk coverage.
Occasionally serving in various roles for Admissions Events
- Helping with registration
- Airport/bus pickups
- Giving Tours
- Participating in virtual recruiting events/calls
- Coldcalling prospective students to share information about Covenant the application process and visits.
- Attend mandatory Assistant Admissions Counselor training sessions
COMPETENCIES
- Must be a Covenant student participating in the workstudy program
- The ability to clearly and effectively communicate why he/she chose to attend Covenant College
- Excellent oral (particularly over the phone) and written communication skills
- Strong initiative to complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Energy and empathy to engage prospective students and parents from a variety of backgrounds
- Robust relational and storytelling capabilities
- Acute attention to detail and administrative tasks to be completed promptly
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 semesters of work experience in Admissions or Visit Staff
- Office work experience
- Involvement in clubs or organizations at Covenant and/or campus leadership (current or previously held at Covenant)
Resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed
- Career & SelfDevelopment including interpersonal skills and learning basic office skills that can be translated to many other workplaces.
- Communication in the form of phone calls emails and text messages with students as well as inperson interactions during visit events. Also communication with your manager!
- Critical Thinking is in the form of learning problem solving when students ask you questions you dont necessarily know the answers to.
- Global Literacy is displayed by interacting with students all over the country and sometimes the world.
