Description

The Teams
The Seed Production section is responsible for effectively managing five ministry seed orchard sites representing 50 of the orchard capacity in BC. The section has 11 fulltime staff 19 longterm auxiliary employees and up to 80 seasonal staff responsible for managing 50000 trees within 40 orchards. Skimikin Seed Orchard and Kalamalka seed Orchardhave a small teams of 68 people who work closely on the development and daytoday operations of the seed orchards.

Labourer
The Role: The position is responsible for maintenance of orchard cones through picking and collecting or will be responsible for the maintenance of orchard trees through pruning. You will be responsible for either collecting and picking orchard cones or pruning orchard trees with the use of orchard ladders and lifts.

Cleaner
The Role: The position is responsible for carrying out a variety of general labour and cleaning activities relating to the sanitization of common areas and tools to prevent the spread of germs and maintain a sanitary role may include assisting with cone pick records and organization at times.

This posting is to fill temporary vacancies which end August 27 2025 and August 29 2025 and may be extended.
These positions will be located in one of the Ministrys Orchard locations in Tappen and Vernon.
These positions have fulltime onsite work requirements.

The Seed Orchard Pruner/Picker is responsible for maintenances of orchard cones through picking and collecting (Picker) or will be responsible for the maintenance of orchard trees through pruning (Pruner).

The Seed Orchard Cleaner is responsible for carrying out a variety of general labour and cleaning activities relating to the sanitization of common areas and tools to prevent the spread of germs and maintain a sanitary workplace.
