PROPULSION DESIGN ENGINEER II
Based out of Rocket Labs our headquarters in Long Beach CA the Propulsion Design Engineer II is responsible design of engine components (combustion chambers turbo machinery engine layout etc. for the Archimedes Engine. In this role youll have the opportunity to design analyze and build hardware. You will support the Neutron and Archimedes teams with deliverables required for internal leadership board of directors and investors.
WHAT YOULL GET TO DO:
- Work with technical subject matter experts to design engine systems to performance quality and manufacturability requirements
- Work on mechanical designs for the propulsion systems
- Perform trade studies with analysts manufacturing engineers and subject matter experts for concept designs
- Work with internal and external fabrication teams to bring hardware from design to fruition
YOULL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in relevant engineering field
- Knowledge of heat transfer fluids and structural mechanics
- Fundamental understanding of mechanical design principles
- Fundamental understanding of design for manufacturing and GD&T principles
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
- High proficiency in GD&T
- Professional experience with NX Ansys and other commercial analysis software packages
- Experience with propulsion systems design analysis test operations and/or manufacturing
- Experience with best practices for design qualification and production
- Experience with a spy development environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to focus.
- Regularly required to sit use hands and fingers operate computer keyboard and controls and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be physically able to commute to buildings
- Occasional exposure to dust fumes and moderate levels of noise.
Level and base salary will be determined on a casebycase basis and may vary based on the following considerations: jobrelated knowledge and skills education and experience.
