Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Coordinates and performs the diagnostic radiographic and computed tomography procedures on patients according to provider/physician orders. Performs proper xray exposure to aid in the diagnosis of fractures diseases and other injuries. Performs CT examinations with knowledgeable operation of the scanner and scan protocols. The technologist must prepare and position patients for the xray or CT examination and take the appropriate images. The technologist also must process imaging plates inspect maintain and make minor repairs to the xray and CT equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensed by the State Department of Health for the State of Montana.
- Prefer a minimum of one year of experience but would consider new graduates.
- Preferred training and experience working as a radiographer and computed tomography technologist.
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed as well as on call duty.
- Displays a good understanding of agerelated developmental issues of pediatrics and geriatrics.
Essential Skills Required:
- Knowledge of radiographic examinations as well as procedures that require the use of contrast agents.
- Knowledge of radiographic equipment operation and radiation safety.
- Knowledge of patient transfers and positioning technique.
- Open accurate and responsive communication oral or written on an individual basis or in groups.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines.
- Demonstration of ethical and professional conduct.
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Capability to be independently mobile.
- Ability to manage physically aggressive patients.
- Ability to transport patients on the patient mobilizer or in a wheelchair.
- Ability to move portable xray machine to examination site.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance reach stoop and bend while maintaining a good mechanical body position.
- Ability to wear protective lead aprons and lead gloves during examinations.
- Ability to perform tasks for a long period of time.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate radiographic equipment.
- Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations observe patients read monitors and documents hear equipment alarms.
- Ability to work within a limited space and in bright and lowlighted examination rooms.
- Ability to travel locally and elsewhere (including overnight stays) to attend seminars etc.
Interrelationship requirements:
- Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients and families all radiology staff referring providers residents all DMHC staff and administration who may or may not be under physical and/or emotional stress.
- Frequent interaction with personnel in other departments and with vendors.
- Ability to maintain confidential information.
