Mercy University is seeking a highly organized and proactive Assistant Program Director to support the successful implementation of its multiyear crosscampus STEM Ready initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Education. This position plays a key role in ensuring the project remains on time on scope and aligned with its purposeenhancing student success in STEM through evidencebased practices.
The ideal candidate will bring strong project management skills excellent communication abilities and a collaborative spirit to help manage complex activities and coordinate stakeholders across departments and partner institutions. The Assistant Program Director will report to the Program Director with operational accountability to the Office of the Provost. The Assistant Program Director will work with the Activity Directors to coordinate grantrelated activities and work with a variety of grant and College staff and external partners from an external program evaluation firm and Westchester Community College. Under the direction of the Program Director the Assistant Program Director administers the STEM Ready project and is responsible for managing the project to meet performance measures and deliverables per Federal regulations program requirements and Mercy College policies and procedures.
STEM Ready at Mercy University is a U.S. Department of Education Title III grantfunded initiative designed to enhance the success of lowincome students at HispanicServing Institutions (HSIs) in earning degrees in six STEM fields: Biology Psychology Mathematics Computer Science Computer Information Science and Cybersecurity. The program also strengthens the transfer pipeline between SUNY Westchester Community College (WCC) and Mercy University providing students with comprehensive support and a streamlined pathway to degree completion. By equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed for STEM careers STEM Ready helps address critical workforce gaps in these highdemand fields.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor grant deliverables timelines and budgets to ensure alignment with project scope and goals
Coordinate reporting schedules communications and documentation across project stakeholders
Track followup with faculty staff and partners to ensure timely completion of activities and submissions
Represent the Principal Investigator/Project Director at meetings and provide concise updates and followup
Draft and review reports for the U.S. Department of Education and assist with data documentation required for compliance and evaluation
Serve as a liaison with the subaward partner Westchester Community College (WCC) helping coordinate joint activities and communication
Facilitate monthly meetings with Activity Directors and external Program Evaluators
Partner with the Finance Departments grant accountants and the Director of Sponsored Research to obtain necessary information for grant reporting and budget management
Support the planning and of special in person grant events such as student research presentations and faculty fellow showcases
Travel occasionally to WCC to attend special events or conduct inperson coordination
This federally funded position is funded through a fiveyear grant currently in its fourth year. The final year of the grant is scheduled to begin on October 1 2025 and run through September 30 2026. We are seeking a candidate who can begin in this role on or around May 15 2025.
