Collins Aerospace is seeking a Tactical Communications Systems Engineering Manager to lead the development of cuttingedge military communication systems in Cedar Rapids IA. In this role youll guide crossfunctional engineering teams in designing secure missioncritical airborne and ground solutions that support military operations around the globe. Were looking for a proven leader with a strong systems engineering background a passion for innovation and a drive to deliver trusted technologies that connect and protect.

What You Will do

  • Manage a team of engineering professionals and cooperatively determine objectives and approaches to completing work. This responsibility requires surface knowledge of systems engineering and project engineering to be successful.
  • Sets objectives and guides team on /approach for achievement of result.
  • Understands and explains policies practices and procedures and may influence others. Also responsible for making moderate to significant improvements of processes systems or products to enhance performance of work area.
  • Execute shortterm (less than 1 year) operational plans or projects that have measurable contribution towards the achievement of results. Projects can be people or technically focused.
  • Process technical or team problem solving. Problems and issues faced are general and may require understanding of broader set of issues. Problems may be difficult and involve consideration of a few sites geographies products or customers. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues.
  • Communicate with parties within and outside of own discipline and team.
  • Provide primary input to hiring firing promotion performance and rewards decisions for direct reports.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • Proven leadership of largescale programs throughout the full development lifecycle with strong proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g. Waterfall SAFe Agile) and financial tools such as Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Experience leading others either in a formal leadership role or through mentoring and coaching responsibilities.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Strong background in communications engineering including radio architectures system components performance specs and testing methods.
  • Skilled in systemlevel design: requirements capture decomposition risk management validation/verification and planning to meet schedule cost and performance goals.
  • Demonstrated success in program pursuit and capture including concept development technical writing and work estimation.
  • Effective communicator with experience interfacing across engineering teams executive leadership and customerfacing functions like Program Management Business Development and Sales.
  • Familiarity with military CONOPS radio performance standards (military commercial FAA) and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

The salary range for this role is 101000 USD 203000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
