Job Description

ERE Outreach Specialist

Location: Cape Girardeau MO


Base Pay: $19.00/hour

NonExempt: Full Time Monday Friday 8:00am 4:30pm

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Qualifications of a Community Support Caseworker (bachelors degree in human service field or
    • Combination of qualifying exp and education; or qualifying experience. Two years of direct service to the target population or
    • other related human service experience.
  • Must hold or obtain by start date MO Class E Drivers License (Class D for IL Residents) and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCCs Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.

What is the Crisis Intervention Program

Crisis Intervention involves outreach services for individuals who are at risk of harming themselves or others. Master degreed professionals conduct nonjudgmental assessments of individuals current situations to ensure their physical and psychological safety and to determine disposition for treatment.

Community Counseling Center in conjunction with the Department of Mental Health provides an 800 Crisis Line through a regional contract between all Administrative Agents in the Southeast Region of the State and Behavioral Health Response (BHR) in St. Louis. The system Missouri Access Crisis and Response System (MOCARS) involves emergency calls to be screened by BHR which forwards the callers information to the Centers oncall staff. Assessment and disposition occur in emergency rooms and law enforcement offices located in the counties of Bollinger Cape Madison Perry and Ste. Genevieve

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing assertive engagement to people experiencing mental health or substance use symptoms; work with a team to assist person in gaining access to needed psychiatric medical substance use services social residential and financial and other appropriate services; network with other community partners and deliver an enhanced safetynet for the person served; work in nontraditional ways to meet the needs of the person to improve health and/or wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Complete required assessments.
  2. Complete community outreach including routine home visits for those who are high utilizers of services.
  3. Interact in a nontraditional way to develop rapport to meet them where they are to engage them into the services that best fit their individual needs.
  4. Build and maintain an extensive knowledge of community resources and have the ability to match person with eligible resources.
  5. Gain client access to services with creative attempts to help identify and obtain resources and needed services. This includes a strong role as an advocate for the person.
  6. Maintain and initiate clear concise communication that is timely and accurate with all referral sources involved in the service provision.
  7. Monitors service delivery by maintaining regular contact with person and service providers/ programs involved.
  8. Complete followup calls maintain contact for increased success.
  9. Help the person increase his/her support network outside of the behavioral health service delivery system.
  10. Responsible for transporting clients in agency and/or personal vehicle as deemed necessary and appropriate to meet program requirements.
  11. Document according to clinical policies and procedures DMH CARF and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
