Job Description:
About the Internship:
As an intern you will gain valuable insight into the work of Behavioral Health Practitioners and the CFS Clinical Team. This internship will provide opportunities to observe clinical processes participate in special projects and engage in care coordination effortsall while developing a deeper understanding of Nebraskas child welfare and behavioral health systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Shadowing & Observation: Gain firsthand experience in the work of Licensed Mental Health Practitioners and Behavioral Health teams.
Special Projects: Work on data sets and programrelated projects that contribute to behavioral health and therapeutic family care initiatives.
Care Coordination Exposure: Observe interdisciplinary team meetings and learn about the coordination of services for atrisk youth.
Understanding System Operations: Learn about case management behavioral health assessment processes and the role of therapeutic family care within DHHS.
What This Internship Does NOT Include:
No Therapy Services: Interns will not provide individual or group therapy nor will they engage in billable therapeutic services.
Limited Youth Interaction: While you may have opportunities to meet with youth this will not be in a therapeutic capacity.
Supervision & Learning Environment:
Interns will always be supervised by a licensed professional.
Assignments and responsibilities will be structured to ensure compliance with internship requirements while maintaining a nonclinical role.
Work will align with the operational hours of schools and DHHS offices.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training or experience in public contact customer service and/or performing and applying office/clerical support procedures including the use of a personal computer associated software and office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters level coursework in Social Work Therapy Clinical Mental Health Clinical Counseling or any other closely related field.
Other: Must be currently enrolled in a college or university.
