POSTDOCTORAL POSITION DEPARTMENT OF RADIATION ONCOLOGY: Thomas Jefferson University is now accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Radiation Oncology within the computational physics lab. The postdoctoral position is for research in the field of functional imaging image processing machine learning (ML) deep learning (DL) and clinical outcome modeling prediction.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work on NCIfunded research on the incorporation of functional imaging into the radiation therapy and clinical care paradigm for cancer patients. The focus of the research involves working with patient data acquired on prospective clinical trials and large retrospective datasets. The research will aim to apply image processing ML methods DL methods and clinical outcome modeling techniques to functional imaging to provide early imaging biomarkers to predict and mitigate treatment sideeffects. The postdoctoral fellow will have an opportunity to collaborate with Thomas Jefferson faculty national and international collaborators and work alongside investigators at the NCI Quantitative Imaging Network.

Candidates must have a PhD in Medical Physics Electrical Engineering Physics or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will be highly interested in an academic or data science career have strong computational skills and seek out a highly collaborative environment. Based on the interest of the postdoctoral fellow; opportunities will be provided to obtain clinical experience treatment planning experience as well as mentorship on clinical trial design and statistical modeling methods.

The Thomas Jefferson Medical Physics Division consists of 33 physicists a computational physicist 7 physics residents and 6 postdoctoral research fellows. Systemwide equipment incorporates a variety of vendors and includes Varian and Elekta Linacs a ViewRay MRILinac and Elektas brachytherapy studio. Treatment planning is performed mainly with Eclipse and MOSAIQ is used for record and verify.
