Job Description

Position Summary

Develops and applies knowledge and utilizes advanced technical expertise in a specific specialty area in support of renewable operations and maintenance across the Xcel Energy fleet. Specialty areas include but are not limited to Process Controls Operational Technology (OT) Electrical Wind TurbineGenerators/Rotating Equipment Solar Inverters and subsystems and/or NonDestructive Testing (NDE/NDT). Provides technical support consisting of diagnostics analysis short and longterm maintenance/outage planning resource development documentation and reliability centered operations and support. Responsibilities are generally 40 in technical support 30 in outage support and 30 in maintaining fleetwide programs and processes. Interfaces extensively with other departments plants and OEMs and may oversee craft employees. A willingness to travel periodically within a geographic region and across the fleet is required.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Defining and executing on substation spare parts strategy for renewables fleet. Planning and executing renewable substation preventative maintenance outage activities. Working with other internal stakeholders to ensure safe compliant operation of our facilities. Perform data analysis to quantify impacts of component failures and subsequent impacts on fleet availability.

  • Provide technical support in specialty area for Energy Supply generation assets. Provide startup assistance and coordination for maintenance modifications and new systems.

  • Provide major facility maintenance project management for scheduled and unscheduled outages. Function in a lead role for minor O&M and capital projects related to area of expertise.Develop computerized scheduling techniques for substation maintenance outages.

  • Provide technical direction and alternatives for control systems and major equipment problems. Coordinate and evaluate generating asset maintenance programs to improve generation reliability. Make recommendations for corrective action when necessary.

  • Partner with plant personnel and coordinate fleetwide maintenance programs in area of expertise to improve generation reliability. Assist with Energy Supplys preventive maintenance and reliability programs.

  • Assist in conducting periodic audits of Quality Assurance programs/procedures. Assist with the development of standards and procedures to support consistent methods to improve equipment/generation reliability.

  • Act as a liaison between contractors/service providers and the Company. Write specifications and purchase requisitions to support Production Resources activities.

  • Write specifications and purchase requisitions for services to support fleet reliability activities.


Minimum Requirements

Minimum of six 6 years of work experience in power generation or equivalent industrial manufacturing/power generation setting or OEM operations/maintenance that demonstrates knowledge of standard engineering principles/practices/techniques and power generation operations/maintenance processes with expertise in one or more of the following areas: process control operational technology (OT) electrical turbinegenerators/rotating equipment boilers/heat recovery steam generators and/or nondestructive testing (NDE/NDT). Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) experience is helpful. Some college coursework in engineering is desirable. Must have the ability to travel extensively and work nontypical schedules. Must be selfmotivated and work with limited supervision. Experience in supervising craft employees desired.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $82800.00 to $135000.00 per year
