Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center is recruiting for a Laboratory Director for the Genetics and Genomics Diagnostic Laboratory within our Human Genetics Division.
In conjunction with the other Directors of the Genetics and Genomics Diagnostic Laboratory GGDL the Director assumes responsibility for the scientific and clinical activities of the Genetics Laboratories. The primary responsibilities include review/signout of clinical cases development of new tests/platforms including Next Generation sequencing and oversight and continued development of diagnostic testing programs. A faculty appointment within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine is associated with this position. Ideal candidates will have an M.D. or PhD; ABMGG board certification in both Clinical Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics or Laboratory Genetics Genomics along with 5 years relevant experience preferred.
The Genetics Laboratories in the Division of Human Genetics (DHG) are wellequipped expanding CLIA and CAP certified clinical laboratories. The laboratories perform testing for inherited diseases and somatic alterations including wellestablished collaborative diagnostic programs for more than two hundred different disorders and conditions. DHG has an ABMGG accredited training program for Medical Genetics and Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (as of July 2017. DHG also has a masters training program for genetic counselors administered jointly with The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Childrens Hospital Medical Center is nationally recognized as a leader in pediatric healthcare with a reputation for excellence in patient care research and medical education. U.S News & World Report ranked Cincinnati Childrens as one of the nations top ten pediatric hospitals in theedition of Americas Best Childrens Hospitals. Among pediatric institutions Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Center is the thirdhighest ranking recipient of research grants from the National Institutes of Health. We support discovery with 1.4 million square feet of lab space and core services such as highthroughput DNA analysis biomedical informatics a pluripotent stem cell facility and much more. Our scientists and physicians work collaboratively to conduct innovative laboratory and clinical research to improve care for children to investigate the outcomes of treatments to study health care systems and to train the next generation of investigators.
