Our Crisis Management Team is at the forefront of addressing complex risks and we are looking for a dynamic Underwriter to join our team in the Midwest. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Crisis Management Team. This role is pivotal in driving business results for an assigned book of business with a strong focus on new business production and account management. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in underwriting particularly in Crisis Management products and will be responsible for managing the development growth and profitability of their portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

New Business Production & Account Management: Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities while maintaining and nurturing existing client relationships.

Portfolio Management: Oversee the development growth and profitability of the assigned book of business and/or territory. Ensure accountability for underwriting production goals.

Underwriting Expertise: Underwrite a range of Crisis Management products including:

Product Contamination Insurance

Product Recall Insurance

Restaurant Foodborne Illness Insurance

Corporate Kidnap Ransom and Extortion

Workplace and Political Violence Response Insurance

Pipeline Tracking & Forecasting: Monitor and forecast production budget rate movements and loss activity within the portfolio.

Producer Development: Cultivate and manage relationships with wholesale and retail brokers. Engage with brokers to drive business growth.

Market Presence: Travel to key markets and accounts maintaining high visibility and engagement in the marketplace.

Product Development: Contribute to the development and revision of products marketing materials and underwriting templates.

CrossMarketing: Collaborate with other Starr product teams to identify crossmarketing opportunities.

Data Collaboration: Provide data and insights to actuarial claims and finance teams as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration Insurance Food Safety & Quality Engineering/Science or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of commercial insurance experience with at least 3 years in underwriting preferred. Experience in Crisis Management or similar products is highly desirable.

Track Record: Demonstrated success in managing an insurance portfolio and developing strong relationships with wholesale and retail brokers.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook. Strong presentation skills are essential.
