Job Duties & Responsibilities by Year:
Carpenter 1st Year
- Learn the fundamentals of carpentry and construction
- Assist with framing wood and metal structures
- Safely operate basic tools
- Gain familiarity with framing and trim routines
- Limited knowledge of the trade requiring guidance
Carpenter 2nd Year
- Start learning layout techniques and basic print reading
- Master the 345 framing method
- Frame wood or metal structures with guidance
- Understand framing principles including spacing 16 on center)
- Safely use hand and power tools (saws grinders nail guns etc.
- Assist with installations and perform basic installation tasks
Carpenter 3rd Year
- Frame both metal and wood structures independently
- Assist with installations under supervision following directions
- Apply carpentry fundamentals: plumb level straight 45degree angle 345 method
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of carpentry practices
- Work independently requiring minimal supervision
Carpenter 4th Year
- Develop print reading skills for layout and construction
- Hang doors and perform basic trim installations
- Execute layout tasks with increasing independence
- Safely handle and operate all tools including power saws and nail guns
- Frame wood and metal structures with minimal guidance
- Perform most installations independently including trim and doors
Carpenter Journeyman
- Read and interpret blueprints with ease
- Hang cabinets doors and hardware with precision
- Frame wood and metal structures independently
- Solve constructionrelated problems efficiently
- Demonstrate advanced tool safety and expertise
- Ability to perform specialized tasks like cutting stairs roofs and ceilings is a plus
Carpenter Foreman
- Oversee the planning coordination and of carpentry tasks from project start to completion
- Interpret and analyze blueprints technical drawings and project specifications to ensure accurate implementation
- Provide handson support for carpentry tasks including framing finishing and installations as needed
- Hang cabinets doors and hardware with precision and attention to detail
- Ensure that projects are completed efficiently while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship and worker safety
- Identify and resolve constructionrelated problems efficiently
- Advanced proficiency in tool usage and safety practices
- Experience in specialized carpentry tasks such as cutting stairs roofs and ceilings is a plus
Requirements
- Valid drivers license
- Hand tools
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 14 years of experience in carpentry &/or construction labor
- Experience in using carpentry tools & power equipment
- Strong mathematical skills for measurements & calculations
- Ability to lift 50 pounds & work in various weather conditions
- OSHA construction safety certification preferred
- Ability to read & interpret construction plans & blueprints
- Excellent teamwork & communication skills.
