The ESS Facilitator at Bloomingdale International School plays a vital role in guiding students through the interdisciplinary subject of Environmental Systems and Societies. The facilitator is expected to deliver engaging inquirybased learning that fosters an understanding of the interrelationship between environmental systems and human societies. This position supports students in developing scientific analytical and critical thinking skills aligned with the philosophy and pedagogy of international education frameworks like the IB Diploma Programme.
Plan and deliver highquality ESS lessons aligned with international curriculum standards (IB DP or equivalent).
Incorporate a balance of scientific methodology and socioenvironmental analysis into the learning process.
Promote inquirybased conceptdriven learning that supports interdisciplinary connections.
Integrate current global and local environmental issues into teaching for realworld relevance.
Facilitate handson experiments fieldwork and internal assessments (IAs) that deepen student understanding.
Design unit plans lesson plans and formative/summative assessments in accordance with the prescribed curriculum.
Guide students through the internal assessment process providing feedback and ensuring academic integrity.
Prepare students thoroughly for final examinations through mock tests revision sessions and exam skills strategies.
Monitor and document students academic progress and provide timely feedback to students and parents.
Use digital tools (e.g. virtual labs simulations LMS platforms) to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Maintain and manage laboratory equipment and resources required for ESS activities.
Collaborate with other faculty members especially in integrated projects or interdisciplinary units.
Participate in schoolwide academic planning curriculum review meetings and staff development initiatives.
Stay uptodate with developments in environmental science and educational best practices.
Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity respect for nature and responsible citizenship.
Support students with differentiated learning strategies and inclusive practices.
Address individual student needs including academic and emotional support in consultation with the school counselor and administration.
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Environmental Science Biology Ecology or related field.
A . or equivalent teacher training certification (preferred).
Certification or experience in IB Diploma Programme ESS or related international curricula (preferred).
Minimum 2 5 years of teaching experience in a similar role preferably in an international school setting.
Experience with inquirybased learning projectbased assessments and interdisciplinary education.
Strong subject knowledge and passion for environmental issues.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Ability to connect scientific content with realworld social and ethical issues.
Techsavvy with experience in using LMS platforms and educational tools.
Adaptability and commitment to continuous professional growth.
Fulltime position as per school hours (including occasional weekend field trips or events).
