Job Description

We are presently recruiting for the role of Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Island reporting to Dan Bruha District Sales Manager Vision Care Western Canada.  The candidate will be based in Vancouver and will be responsible for managing and leading business development in some of our largest key customer accounts. The product portfolio covers both Glaucoma and Dry Eye Disease and includes XEN Gel Stent Lumigan RC Restasis and Refresh Tears.

The Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Islandwill be the face of AbbVie to identified Key Accounts to continue building on and developing the longterm customer relationships across the glaucoma and dry eye disease portfolios.

Position Overview and Role Description:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating relationships with existing customers and expanding awareness and use of focused AbbVie Vision Care products in Glaucoma and Dry Eye Disease within the territory supporting our specialized Xen Gel Implant Lumigan RC Restasis and Refresh Tears.
  • The Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Islandis responsible for managing sales at the customer and hospital level in accordance with approved marketing plans and company policies to attain or exceed the sales targets for the assigned territory.
  • Essential skills and abilities include: a high degree of flexibility in adapting to change interpersonal and client relationship skills and a positive solutionoriented thinking capability.
  • The Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Islandis the customer expert and manager of the AbbVie commercial relationships with the External Experts.
  • The Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Islandhas and maintains a macro view of customer relationships and works crossfunctionally within AbbVie to maximize sales results.
  • The Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Islandworks closely with multiple stakeholders both internal and external to ensure internal team members understand and effectively execute against the customer strategy and sales expectations.
  • The Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Islandacts in the best interests of AbbVie looking for areas of mutual interest to AbbVie and the Key Accounts. The Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Islandidentifies predictive and responsive opportunities to codevelop solutions within the Key Accounts 
  • The Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Islandproactively identifies challenges to effective customer interactions and ensures that the right internal processes are in place to overcome or mitigate them.
  • The Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Islandis the core customer advocate within AbbVie (e.g. identifies customers issues concerns and priorities)
  • The Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Islandbuilds deep and broad engagements within the Key Accounts organization and develops an understanding of their key priorities structure and business environment to maximize sales

Therapeutic Specialist Vision Care Vancouver & Vancouver Island Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing trusting relationships with Key accounts and growing those relationships to ensure maximum share of glaucoma and dry eye portfolio
  • Developing account specific strategies in accordance with AbbVies guidelines and values
  • Collaborating with the AbbVies Medical team and AbbVie Institutes Clinical Specialist in the field to optimize product knowledge and business training acumen
  • Develop comprehensive and strategic business plans in order to increase market share in the glaucoma and dry eye product portfolio
  • Conduct regular sales reviews of business territory performance externally and internally
  • Execute national marketing programs collaborating with internal crossfunctional teams
  • Identify new collaboration & growth opportunities within existing Key Accounts as well as identify new Key Accounts
  • Proficiently manage overall budget & resource allocation for the territory

 


Qualifications :

Education Experience & Competencies Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Commerce Science or equivalent or MBA combination of experience and education required
  • A minimum of 3 years of Sales and/or marketing/or head office operational experience
  • Key Account Management experience valued
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical/Medical Sales is required
  • A thorough understanding of the institutional/ Key Account healthcare sector preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving and/or exceeding business results
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Strong business acumen and selfstarter
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities listening and adaptability skills
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate crossfunctionally within the company
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior leaders both with customers & internally
  • Candidate must be fluent in English. Both verbal and written
  • Highly collaborative with a customercentric mindset
  • Able to travel up to 50 of the time
  • Position requires evening/weekend work including overnight travel.
  • Valid drivers license and passport
  • Role will be based in Vancouver
