Washington Corrections Center (WCC)Full Time Permanent
The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking highly motivated and talented individual for the position of a Maintenance Specialist 4 at the Washington Corrections Center (WCC) in Shelton Washington.
The Washington Corrections Center is a Reception and Diagnostic Center. The facility is a closecustody facility with the primary responsibility to process test and classify all adult male felons sentenced to prison in Washington State. The facility has eight living units and houses 1700 incarcerated individuals. There are about 500 incarcerated individuals screened and assessed each month. WCC is also the major hub for transfer of incarcerated individuals to and from facilities throughout the state.

Duties
Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager the Maintenance Specialist 4 provides professional technical support between the needs of a Correctional Facility and the Operational Technologies used to support the facility. This position combines the field of electrical engineering and information technology for specific applications of security and safety in a custodial environment subject to continual change and evolution. Key duties include but are limited to:
- Support the ongoing operation of the Washington Corrections Center by administering SecurityElectronics and Electrical applications and processes to include all locking systems security electronicscomponents and systems electrical permitting and plan reviews and submittals.
- Designing installing programmingtroubleshooting testing and supporting security systems safety equipment and operational services.
- Installation programming and configurations of workstations PLCs data acquisition and storage devices video operations and forensics access and egress control communications fire detection alarm notification and fire suppression.
- Respond to request to add or remove equipment make repairs and restore operations.
- Maintain confidentiality integrity and availability of all security systems.
- Verify that equipment is operating within parameters and reprogram as needed.
- Define design and install pathway and conduit per NEC and DOC TDIS.
- Install test and terminate cabling.
- Analyze equipment and operations to maintain maximum effectiveness. Perform needs assessments requirements analysis and evaluation of products used for security safety operations and services.
- Identifies operational need per current facility use.
- Develop solutions based on commercially available products and services.
- Confers with stakeholders on costs function and suitability.
- Submits recommendations to WCC Leadership.
- Provides for the management of projects from inception to commissioning.
- Defines scope budget and develop schedules for submittal to jurisdiction having authority supervisors and managers.
- Identifying stakeholders resources and impacts.
- Implement plans monitor and document progress.
- Provides technical training to operational line staff and direct reports.
- Prepares documents and creates training media.
- Create media resources and present individual and group training.
- Establish methods and procedures for problem escalation.
- Prepares documentation of training to ensure accountability.
- Perform other duties or provide relief to other positions as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid Drivers License
- EL06 or EL07 Electricians License
- Four years experience installing maintaining or repairing electrical and/or electronic equipment.
- Two 2 years experience installing testing and repairing fire alarm security communications and surveillance equipment.
- Two 2 years supervisory experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Cabling Certification
- Perimeter Fence Repair Certification
- 3 years experience in a Correctional Facility
- EL01 Electrical License
