What you will be doing:- Join the Department of Healths team where you will be part of the Public Health Data Modernization team and a collaborator with the departments enterprise database administrator.
- Modernize Database Systems: Manage and modernize our databases with a focus on data lakes warehouses and cloud solutions.
- Utilize Microsoft Stack:Leverage tools like Microsoft SQL Server for effective database management and optimization.
- Ensure Data Accuracy and Security: Utilize SQL and other database management tools to maintain data accuracy security and accessibility.
- Integrate Advanced Technologies: Drive the integration of advanced data technologies to enhance crossprogram data sharing and analytics.
- Align with Best Practices: Ensure our information systems meet industry best practices and are operationally sound.

Who we are looking for:
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following positionspecific competencies:- Database Expertise: Proficiency in database management and data modernization with knowledge of database design and optimization.

- Four years of computer programming experience in a recognized computer language. At least one year of the four must have involved programming database applications at the full proficiency programmer level in a wide area networked DBMS environment. This required experience includes but is not limited to work such as an Analyst/Programmer 3 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
OR
Four years of work experience supporting and maintaining a wide area networked DBMS in a database administration environment that included: 1 leading or serving as shift supervisor for computer operations in a mainframe or database server computer environment or assisting and training on designing and implementing basic computer software; and 2 at least six months actual programming experience in an internal database language. The lead/shift supervisor and design and implementation experience includes but is not limited to work such as a Data Processing Technician 3with the State of Alaska or equivalent experience elsewhere.
Special Note:
For some positions in these job classes a background investigation including fingerprinting is required.
One year of database management systems experience at a level equivalent to a Database Specialist 1for the State of Alaska.

Database Specialist 3:
Two years database management systems experience at a level equivalent to a Database Specialist 2with the State of Alaska.

FLEXIBLY STAFFED
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the 1 2 or 3 levels depending on the applicants training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level of the position. If filled at a lower level promotion to the higher level will only occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training and the applicant meets the minimum qualifications of the higher job class and final approval by the supervisor.EDUCATION
