The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the role of Pharmacy Technician 2for the Maple Lane Central Pharmacy located in Centralia WA. This is a fulltime position MondayFriday 8:00am4:30pm.
The Pharmacy Technician 2 supports the mission of the Department of Corrections by ensuring the full provision of quality timely and medically appropriate pharmaceutical services as an integral part of continuity of care for patients served by DOC Health Services.
This position supports the primary DOC Pharmacy activity to ensure that prescriptions are filled and shipped to facilities in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with Federal and State regulations DOC policies and procedures by primarily assisting with the technical management of the 1115 program within the Central Pharmacy.
In this role the Pharmacy Technician 2 ensures proper selection of medication which is both clinically and fiscally relevant. This position plays an integral role in ensuring safe quality pharmaceutical services for DOC patients and is a critical element of facility security due to the highly complex and sensitive correlation between health needs illness and full timely access to appropriate pharmaceutical therapy.

Will perform specialized technical pharmaceutical functions such as liaison for assigned nursing units or ambulatory clinics 1115 waiver expectations and functions within the pharmacy and acting as a resource for medication distribution systems for releasing individuals.

Duties
Oversee billing of patient insurance to ensure compliance with 1115 waiver expectations:
- Ensure all patient releasing from DOC are verified as qualified or not qualified for 1115 waiver services.
- Ensure all qualified patients insurance is billed appropriately for 90 days prior to and then 90 days after release.
- Proactively runs reports to ensure 115 eligibility for patients. Manages reports to ensure compliance with 1115 expectations.
- Work with overall pharmacy team to ensure the billing process is completed appropriately per 1115 standards.
Assist with management of Pharmacy inventory in reference to 1115 waiver by ensuring Medicaid compliance is met so that eligible patients receive eligible products:
- Assist with inventory related audits to ensure on hand amounts meet current set PAR levels.
- Support LEAN practices with requisition data entry and management.
- Monitor for necessary changes/updates in Bay Order Form to ensure wholesaler requisition is continually up to date.
- Provide feedback on adherence to current inventory processes.
- Collaboratively work with the Lead Technicians with guidance of staff responsible for ordering and troubleshooting supply issues.
Assist with management of 1115 medication returns and waste ensuring compliance with 1115 waiver utilization and fund usage:
- Reverse Medicaid claims upon medication return to pharmacy to ensure billing remains accurate with dispensing of medications to patients.
- All billing must be in compliance with Medicaid expectations.
- Process returns as necessary.
- Track and report return and waste trends any 1115 medications.
- Coordinate with the Waste MA4 regarding waste stock items.
- Provide feedback to supervisor concerning trends that do not support proper inventory management.
Provide pharmacy operations backup and team support:
- Perform the duties of Pharmacy Technicians during staff shortages or highvolume days.
- Perform emergency coverage duties of the Management Analyst 4s within DOC Central Pharmacy (waste and CIPS).
- Perform emergency coverage duties of other Pharmacy Technician 2s within the DOC Central Pharmacy (inventory).
Act as the Inventory Management Pharmacist Supervisors backup regarding inventory information as a resource to staff:
- Relay information and update pharmacy staff about backordered items.
Other duties as assigned:
- Attend all required meetings.
- Promote safety be an active participant be aware be alert act safely and make recommendations.
- Attend all required trainings.
- Perform or assist with inspections.
- Keep abreast of new methods techniques and other developments in the field.
- Remain current concerning specific workflow expectations and processes.
- Remain current concerning DOC Health Services policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Licensure: Current State of Washington Pharmacy Technician License. Ensure License is renewed in accordance with WSPQAC regulations and that proof of current licensure is provided by anniversary date to leadership.
- Experience: Six months of expierence as a Pharmacy Technician 1 or equivalent educations/experience. Two years expierence as a Pharmacy Technician in an institution setting many be considered equivalent expierence.
- Skills: Has basic pharmacy skills and demonstrates skill competency.
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain current CPR certification.
Desired Qualifications:
- Five years expierence as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Pharmacy technician expierence in an institutional setting or equivalent.
- Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated expierence with pharmacy inventory management.
