The Role:
TIME is seeking an Editorial Fellow to join its breaking news desk for a fulltime paid 12month Fellowship. This opportunity is ideal for a developing journalist eager to gain handson experience in a fastpaced and collaborative editorial environment. The Fellow will work closely with editors and reporters across team while mostly contributing to TIMEs daily news coverage. This position offers exposure to every step of the editorial processfrom pitching and writing to research factchecking and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Pitch and write original wellreported news stories across a variety of topics including politics world affairs culture technology and business
- Report under deadline pressure with strong news judgment and the ability to quickly synthesize complex information
- Conduct interviews and build a strong network of sources
- Support the newsroom by factchecking and verifying information
- Collaborate with editors and contribute to TIMEs high editorial standards for accuracy clarity and fairness
- Participate in team meetings trainings and editorial brainstorms
Qualifications:
- A curious driven and detailoriented emerging journalist with a passion for impactful storytelling
- Experienced in reporting and writing on deadline with bylines in student media internships freelance work or professional publications
- Familiar with editorial factchecking best practices
- Committed to the values of accuracy fairness and journalistic integrity
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Interested in a wide range of topics and eager to adapt to a global 24/7 newsroom
- Proficient in digital publishing tools and online research
- Familiarity with TIMEs voice mission and editorial style

Location:
This is a hybrid role. Eligible candidates for the role must be within a commutable distance of TIMEs New York City officeupon hire and may be expected to be physically present as needed (typically 3 days/week).
