As the Shelter Animal Capacity Coordinator you would provide direction and coordination for the daytoday flow of animals through Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. You will formulate and execute plans to navigate daily and seasonal capacity challenges. We will look to you to drive positive change by managing highpressure situations with emotional intelligence while enhancing operational position requires the employee in the office and or customerfacing for all hours worked.

We Require
Four years of professional experience developing and administering animal care programs within an animal care shelter veterinary hospital humane society or another related animal facility and/or experience in resource management logistics coordination or capacity planning preferably within a business or operational setting OR
Bachelors degree in Business Administration Animal Care and Behavior or similar field
A combination of postsecondary education and/or jobrelated experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a yearforyear basis

Bilingual Spanish and Englishspeaking skills
Job Contributions
Develop and administer the Capacity for Care program by assessing daily capacity and organizing the departments response based on animal population
Coordinate with intake field adoption foster rescue and transfer teams to regulate admissions prioritize cases schedule surrender appointments as needed and efficiently move animals through the system
Lead daily capacity meetings and ensure clear communication across departments about current population levels urgent needs and strategies to maintain a steady flow. Ensures set plans are communicated and followed
Monitor daily shelter population forecast capacity trends using historical data and length of stay (LOS) goals and manage animal housing based on behavioral and medical needs to prevent overcrowding
Implement the Capacity for Care (C4C) plan by making realtime decisions based on shelter data managing length of stay and prioritizing animals for timely placement or alternative options
Coordinates with key divisions to evaluate coordinate and complete animal moves between shelter sites and offsite adoption locations
Develops and tracks the programs key performance indicators (KPIs) related to capacity utilization ensuring resources are effectively used to meet operational targets
Completes virtual and physical housing rounds to ensure animals are housed in accordance with housing plans and standards; promptly communicates or addresses concerns
Conducts continual program evaluations and recommends changes and improvements based on community demand department strategic goals or any other
Working Conditions
Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire a valid Arizona drivers license
Candidates must be flexible and able to work all shifts including starting as early as 6 am and finishing as late as 7 pm working weekends and holidays with any combination of days off determined by the needs of the Department
Exerting 2025 lbs. occasionally 1025 lbs. frequently or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Work is predominately performed in an animal shelter with exposure to extreme and varying temperatures excessive noise dogs and cats with unknown temperaments or behaviors animal waste and fluids deceased animals cleaning chemicals and zoonotic diseases. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on all types of surfaces that are sometimes slippery uneven and rough.
