Location: Hotel Arista
Department: Stewarding
Reports to:Chef
Status:Hourly NonExempt
Compensation Range:$17.0019.00/hour commensurate with experience and education.
Age Requirements: Must be 18

Role Summary:
The Steward maintains an immaculate and efficient kitchen by: cleaning all dishware China crystal and silver pots and pans and stocking cleaning products emptying trash bins and replacing garbage bags assists in break down and cleanliness of buffets.


Responsibilities:
  1. Collects dirty pans from the cooking line and transport to pot station for cleaning.
  2. Cleans and maintains sanitation areas and organize cleaning supplies including hanging up mops and brooms.
  3. Ensures clean items are stored appropriately.
  4. Operates and maintains cleaning equipment and tools including the dish washing machine hand wash stations potscrubbing station and trash compactor.
  5. Ensures that all spills and breakage are attended to immediately.
  6. Follows hotel and departmental policies and procedures including safe practices in the workplace.
  7. Be familiar with applicable emergency procedures and evacuations including fire threat power failure and injury to and illness of persons.
  8. Must have a flexible schedule and be available to work nights weekends and holidays.
  9. Completes any other tasks as assigned by chefs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent education.
Experience:
  1. Oneyear of experience as a Dishwasher preferred.
  2. Knowledge of safety sanitation and food handling procedures.
  3. Illinois food handlers certificate strongly preferred.
  4. Ability to work in a team environment.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Must be able to walk and stand for up to 8 hours a day with or without reasonable accommodation.
  2. Reach overhead and below the knees including bending twisting pulling and stooping.
  3. Must be able to bend squat and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
