Software Development Manager Pricing Shared Services

Pricing Shared Services is core team that enables pricing for Amazon worldwide. You will play a key role in the evolution of our core platform services and Pricing algorithms to solve the worlds most complex technical challenges in pricing optimization largescale computing distributed systems web applications algorithms and data mining to name a few. The Pricing systems are responsible for determining and publishing prices automatically for the millions of items that Amazon sells worldwide ranging from Books to Consumer Electronics to Shoes. Each country presents a unique set of complexities in generating the price. We are experimenting with new machine learning algorithms to lower the prices for our customers. We are redesigning our core services to scale up with Amazons growth plans.

As an experience SDM in Amazon Pricing team you will play a key role in solving some of the worlds most complex technical challenges presented by machine learning and big scale systems. You will apply Largescale computing Distributed systems Data mining Scalability Machine learning and Statistical Algorithms techniques.






A day in the life
To be successful you will need to be able to keep the longterm objectives in mind while guiding the team through shortterm obstacles. You drive relentlessly to develop the careers of your developers improve our development processes remove bottlenecks and friction and allow the team to move at a fast pace. You will need to collaborate closely with business leads product owners technical program managers designers and partner teams. You are comfortable with a degree of ambiguity and are always open to identifying alternative paths.

3 years of engineering team management experience
7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Bachelors Degree

Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
