Job Description

Position Description: The Learning Center Manager will lead the development and implementation of

educational programs and neighborhood improvement initiatives around an affordable housing community at

The Jordan at Mueller Apartments 2724 Philomena St Austin TX 78723.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage an afterschool and summer program for schoolaged youth which includes program

development managing program staff maintaining student data and completing grant reports.

Afterschool and Summer Program initiatives will be required to be done inperson.

Recruit train and supervise parttime staff to lead youth and adult programs in compliance with

CDC health and safety guidelines.

Establish ongoing communication with community residents and neighborhood partners to

determine areas of need and to ensure residents are aware of available programs and resources.

Work closely with partners feeder school administration and teachers and other Foundation

Communities departments to increase collaboration in the provision of wraparound support for

students and families.

Communicate frequently with onsite staff across different departments direct supervisor and

other senior management staff to ensure that information regarding the program and community

needs is conveyed.

Assist in coordination of Adult Basic Education Health Initiatives and Financial Wellness programs

with other departments of Foundation Communities United Methodist Church and other partner

agencies.

Collaborate with other Foundation Communities staff in the areas of fundraising communications

accounting etc

Research best practices and remain knowledgeable about developments in the field to maintain a

successful inperson or virtual program.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Education Social Work or related field required.

OR completion of college level coursework in child development child/adolescent psychology

social work or equivalent AND a minimum of 3 years of related work experience in high quality

youth programs serving schoolaged students K5th grade.

OR 5 or more years of related work experience with high quality youth programs serving

school aged students K5th grade that included training in relevant topics such as: Child Abuse

Reporting Program Quality Behavior Management Child Development SEL (Social Emotional

Learning) etc. This work experience must include at least one full year working at Foundation

Communities learning centers in our youth programs.

Experience providing educational or social services to economically disadvantaged/diverse

communities is required.

At least one year of staff supervision experience.

Availability to work some evening hours and weekends as needed for programming parent meetings

and other community events arise.

An understanding of SEL Mindfulness and Trauma Informed practices preferred but not required.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee will be expected to do light to moderate

lifting along with the occasional moving of furniture. The ability to participate and engage students

in light to moderate physical fitness activities is preferred.

Employees working in a physical work environment will be required to adhere to current CDC

guidelines around safety and personal protective equipment.

Ability to conduct inperson programming in accordance with CDC guidelines is required.

An occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials may occur. May be

asked to clean up bodily fluids with appropriate training and personal protective equipment.
