Department Overview

OHSU is Oregons only public academic health center. We are a system of hospitals and clinics across Oregon and southwest Washington. We are an institution of higher learning with schools of medicine nursing pharmacy dentistry and public health and with a network of campuses and partners throughout Oregon. This position provides technical support to the Home Infusion department through packaging of patient orders

maintenance of medical equipment inventory management and coordination of deliveries. Home infusion employees working this shift are responsible for ensuring accountability and accuracy of standard operations procedures in home infusion pharmacy. This position requires driving of personallyowned vehicle in order to assist with transfer of medications and supplies. Position works under direct supervision of a Pharmacist whois responsible for the safe and proper distribution of medication to home infusion patients.

Function/Duties of Position

  • Packages labels and prepares deliveries for patients based on printed delivery tickets. Prioritizes deliveries and determines appropriate delivery method to ensure packages arrive on time. May drive vehicle to pick up and deliversupplies and/or equipment.

  • Checks to ensure the inventory of supplies and equipment is adequate to meetupcoming demands. Purchases supplies and/or equipment or authorizespurchases of supplies or equipment up to authorized limit.

  • Archives OHSU records and shreds and discards records when expiration date is passed; reviews clerical work to assure typing especially numbers and financial amounts is accurate and that records are filed and processedaccording to established procedures and guidelines. Tracking of patientspecific documentation required for compliance and billing. Contactingproviders and patients to obtain missing documentation.

  • Clean test and maintain durable equipment. Coordinate retrieval ofequipment from patient homes at end of therapy. Coordinate preventativemaintenance schedules for all home infusion equipment.

  • Receives incoming freight and deliveries; counts items against the invoice and checks to see that all items are in good condition;
  • Driving personal vehicle is a requirement for this job and to comply with allpolicies and procedures related to this activity.

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Experience performing stores and inventory work;AND
  • Training or experience providing knowledge of inventory control systems and transportation agencies and shipping methods.
  • Current Drivers license and driving record that meets OHSUs driving requirements.

Job Related KnowledgeSkills and Abilities(Competencies):

  • Ability to read and understand medicalrelated terms.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Basic knowledge of computer software systems such as Microsoft Office Word Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to establish priorities in workflow.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under supervision of diverse Pharmacists.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of high school degree Formal pharmacy technician training program
  • Past work experience in a medical office or Pharmacy setting
  • Medical and scientific nomenclature
  • Licensed by the State of Oregon Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician

Additional Details

  • Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals and noise. Flexibility in scheduling of shift for accuracy associated with performance of the duties to this position.
  • Ability to stand/walk push or pull delivery carts bending and reaching for 68 continuous hours per day.
  • Maintain supply movement and stock to accommodate patient needs. Ability to carry and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to drive a vehicle.
