Our Preconstruction Services Utilities team within the Capital Project Group is seeking two managers to lead and manage the utility relocations for the Hamilton Light Rail Transit project or Hazel McCallion Light Rail Transit project. This role is critical to ensuring the successful coordination and of utility relocations while minimizing project risks and maintaining schedule alignment.
The successful candidate for the Hamilton Light Rail Transit project will report to the project office located at100 King Street West Hamilton Ontario
The successful candidate for Hazel McCallion Light Rail Transit project will report to the project office located at110 Matheson Blvd West MississaugaOntario.
Both positions will require occasional visits to 10 Bay Street Toronto Ontario.
What will I be doing
- Manage the endtoend delivery of complex highrisk utility relocation projects including planning commissioning and closeout ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and project requirements.
- Manage a portfolio of utility conflictsrelocating conflicting wet (water & sewer) and dry (hydro telecom and oil/gas) utilities within the LRT corridor.
- Knowledge of alternative procurement delivery particularly P3 or Alliance Model would be an asset in order to identify opportunities for improvements and cost savings and budget management skills to plan and monitor departmental budgets.
- Work collaboratively within analternative delivery framework ensuring alignment between utility owners design teams and construction partners.
- Represents utilities and design development teams as a technical specialist at meetings and provides subject matter expertise on utility coordination and relocation matters for wet and dry utilities.
- Build strong relationships with thirdparty utility partners to track progress identify risks and inefficiencies and implement solutions throughout all phases of relocation.
- Monitor safety and compliance onsite conduct regular field visits and meetings to resolve conflicts address challenges and ensure adherence to railway operating rules and other relevant standards.
- Contribute to strategic planning and of early works utility packages in coordination with utility partners enabling efficient delivery of overall LRT corridor work.
- Provide technical guidance to internal teams and manage a team 15 direct reports) ensuring effective delegation coordination and of project responsibilities.
- Identify the need for concept preliminary or detail design alternatives or value engineering opportunities.
- Manage projects involving effective coordination and liaison with a large number of internal and external stakeholders including other areas of the Capital Projects Group and other Metrolinx departments municipal partners third parties and Railways.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Completion of a university degree or college diploma in Engineering Architecture or related field or a combination of relevant education training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects involving planning design construction and commissioning of largescale transit transportation or municipal projects. Relevant experience in rapid transit & dry utility design is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience to manage complex projects under pressure to meet schedule budget and quality requirements.
- Demonstrated experience and application of supervisory principles and practices to supervise staff.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Professional Engineer Certified Engineering Technologist (CET)Registered Professional Planners(RPP)are considered an asset.
- Knowledge of contract law the Occupational Health & Safety Act and construction standards and procedures applicable to operating Railway environment.
- Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation and strong communication skills to liaise with all levels within the organization and on construction sites.
- A valid Ontario Class G drivers license is required to travel to various site locations meetings operational facilities etc. (approximately 5. Must meet and maintain the corporate standard for a good driving record.
