Job Description
Schedule: MondayFriday 9am5pm with some on call expectations.
This is a building maintenance and repair position (not a maintenance cleaning role). Documented experience and a valid driving license with an acceptable driving history is required.
This is a building maintenance and repair position (not a maintenance cleaning role). Under direction of Director the technician is responsible for maintaining buildings and property in quality condition. Performs repairs and conducts preventive and regular maintenance of buildings furniture fixtures and equipment.
Unless otherwise noted as nondriving all facility workers are expected to know how to operate ODM fleet vehicles. The driver must have a clean driving record to be approved per insurance standards which includes a check for DUI/DWI history of a suspended license and/or vehicular manslaughter. Fleet includes a box truck a refrigerated van 8 passenger and 12 passenger vans and a pickup truck.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs all work orders as assigned by Director or Coordinator
- Ensure that premises and equipment are well maintained clean and safe; inspecting work of technicians and providing feedback to director
- May be available after hours to respond to emergency situations pertaining to heating failure water leaks and inclement weather concerns and share oncall responsibilities with the director
- Administer approved procedures as it pertains to assignment of tasks use of equipment safety preventative maintenance and repairs
- Ensure the efficient and prompt handling of all department work
- Perform from start to completion any and all of facilities related work orders
- Daily tasks may include but are not limited to: general carpentry remodeling electrical plumbing painting safety locks repair of any and all types of appliances & equipment typical to all residential & commercial facilities.
- Ensure Mission grounds are wellgroomed and clean

- Serve as a positive role model for students and guests
- Safety conscious with a good knowledge of facility operation and general maintenance
- Must be a selfstarter able to work well alone or with others including volunteers and students
- Skilled with power tools
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends
- Meet and deal tactfully and courteously with donors employees volunteers students guests and vendors
- Appropriately handles frequent changes delays and unexpected events
- Remain calm in a crisis or emergency situation
- Able to read and write; and communicate via email
- Must hold a current and valid New York State Drivers License and be willing to authorize a drivers record and background check
- Physically fit knowledge of safe handling and lifting techniques
