Job Description

The Stark County Park District is currently seeking a selfmotivated outdoor enthusiast for our seasonal technician position(s) in the Natural Resources (NR) department. The right candidate will display a high level of initiative and be open to learning opportunities in and out of the field. Essential Functions:

  • Works with the Natural Resources team to assist in implementation of management plans as directed.
  • Responsible for assisting in implementation of various programs pertaining to identification and removal of invasive species habitat restoration cultivation of native vegetation natural resource surveys wetland delineations etc.
  • Responsible for accurately completing surveys ensuring accurate data entry and review of information. Knowledgeable in creating and exporting data to create requested reports.
  • Assists in completion of restoration and maintenance of quality wildlife habitats (seeding planting) controlling and monitoring noxious weeds wetland restoration survey completion and other in field duties as assigned.
  • Operate various equipment and machinery and natural resource related technology such as GPS data loggers etc.
  • Work closely with internal sources (Operations and Education departments) to implement land management projects/goals and support Park special events.
  • Work flexible and at times long hours possibly night or early mornings as required.

Skills/Experience/Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of local flora and fauna and their habitats stream and lake/pond dynamics and wetland and riparian communities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of conservation land management habitat protection and restoration.
  • Ability and willingness to work in both individual and team environments.
  • Ability to work in various outdoor environments and in a variety of extreme weather conditions
  • Must be able to work independently be productively engaged
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Proficiency in data entry and reading and writing various reports.

Basic Requirements:

Some 36 months minimum) of class experience in Natural Resources Environmental Science Biology or related field. Must be able to work flexible and at times long hours possibly late night or early mornings as required.


Hours: Average of 32 40 hours/week March 17 2025 through Julyweeks)


These openings require working predetermined schedules including various hours and days of the week including weekends and holidays.


Must be eligible for employment in the United States have a valid drivers license and be insurable. Preemployment background check and drug screening will be performed.


Pay: $10.70$12.00 per hour
